Plaintiffs John Doe of Connecticut (Doe I) and John Doe of Florida (Doe II) are each adult males who were previously convicted of sex crimes in Wisconsin and are subject to Wisconsin’s sex offender registration and notification statutes, Wis. Stat. §§ 301.45, 301.46 (2009-10)[1]. Plaintiffs filed this action against the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC), its secretary and the director of the DOC’s Sex Offender Program, alleging that the application and enforcement of the Wisconsin sex offender registration requirements against them constituted punishment in violate the ex post facto clauses of the United States and Wisconsin constitutions. They need to do the same thing to that county in Louisiana that requires fees to register.
Michigan is waiting for the governors signiture of a sex offender registry fee. Lots being called a membership fee and will cost $50 a year.
This is so wrong since I was told in 2002 I had a one time fee and in good faith paid the one time fee and now the government says…. We are not honoring the one time fee and now you must pay yearly! Sex offender laws have grown so expensive they want ex sex offenders to pay for the non stop punitive fees/fines. If the laws are so expensive the government can’t pay for it nor can the ex offender!
When I pled guilty back in 2002 almost none of the restrictions even exsisted but I guess now I am more dangerous and require more and more restrictions! Michigan is getting fees, loitering laws of 1,000 feet near child care centers and a holloween law. They keep adding laws they will have to keep adding fees/fines.
Every new politician needs a new sex offender law now in Michigan and they just don’t care about constitutional rights, bill of rights or United Nations, human rights.
Sex offenders don’t have any constitutional rights here is a example the sex offenders registry did not exist when i was convicted did not exist when i got sentenced did not exist when i got out of parole with no supervision of any kind then theyretroactive it and place me on the registry for life this is a ex port facto law and illegal but not to sex offenders
You are victim of the unwritten law of the United States. Anyone who once committed a crime can be convicted a second time as a sex offender, based only on the fact of the first. The first convict in does not even have to relate to sex. Look at the crimes listed in SORNA. The thing is there is no crime on the books called sex offence. It is a label that is treated as a real crime. Based on what?? Public opinion? It has no probation time. The sentence is open ended as is the punishment. The strangest thing is you can be punished for following the law. Because you obey the law and register, you become subject to new restrictions. Halloween ban. Library ban. You name it. Just because you are doing what you are supposed to do. I realize I don’t know much of law, but this is my view on the receiving end of of it. It is like I walked into a Kafka novel.
Are they appealing this sex offenders fee how can I help out . I’ve been a sex offender now for 21 years now.like to prove that I’m not threat to any more and needed help move forward. I now can even help my mother out get pay to be a care giver. Why should I live any more
Well another constitutional protection is voided. Why should the public care!? It won’t happen to them. RIGHT? I am a vet, I served because I believed in this Nation, the Rights we have, the Constitutional protections we enjoy. Now I see cops in military attire carrying assault weapons (incorrectly). I am shocked by video of cops gunning down unarmed citizens. I am also an ex-felon, over 30 years ago I did commit a crime. I plead guilty to what I was guilty of (not the stuff the prosecutor “overcharged” me). I have served my time. I have adhered to the “letter” everything the Judge sentenced me to. I completed parole. My P.O. wanted me to teach a class on “how to do parole”. I has no problems, until now. Now verify 4 times a year, pay $50 a year, can not live within a mile of schools (which is problematic when there are like 12 school building that cover the small town I live near). Even school building that have been closed and sold off count!!!
So how far does this need to go? I have closed my business and am planning to leave the country I love because it no longer wants me (of my money).
